International Awareness and Involvement
Members of the International Awareness and Involvement Committee participated and organized events to highlight the prevalence of Human Trafficking and its impact on our communities. Human Trafficking is the second largest criminal enterprise in the world. Every year thousands of women and children fall into the hands of traffickers, in their own countries and abroad. Human trafficking is definitely a clear and present danger to Alabama and its communities. The International Awareness and Involvement Committee hosted a forum at Auburn University at Montgomery. Advocates provided insight about warning signs and risk factors that put women and children at higher risk of being trafficked. The forum also highlighted the social media platforms being used as a method for traffickers to target victims. Human Trafficking is our problem and if we see something, we must say something.
